history, owner, team, area
In 1599, the Broyer family settled on the site to build the first dwelling here and transform the wooded area into a farm and vineyard under the orders of the seminary of Mâcon.
In 1710, the current buildings were erected under the orders of the vicar general of the diocese of Mâcon.
The wine growing and selling company that would later become Vins des Broyers was created in 1823.

The Château des Broyers is owned privately.
A couple from Lyon who love old buildings bought it in 2003 to turn it into an event venue.
Now, their son, Pierre Coquard, is the owner and manager.
The Château team is made up of 18 permanent members working in different areas: events, accommodation, catering, the garden and of course the vineyard and winemaking.
There are many sporting and cultural activities available around the Château including walking, cycling, horse riding and boat rides.
There are also cultural sites to visit, such as Cluny Abbey, the Rock of Vergisson and the Rock of Solutré, the Musée du Compagnonnage (museum on trade guild history) and the Hameau du Vin wine theme park.

Catering & wine
Menus, dietary restrictions, made on-site, vineyard
Yes; if you inform us about attendees’ dietary restrictions before your event, our chef Samuel will take these into account when putting together the menu.
Our chef, Samuel, loves good local produce and we are lucky enough to be hosting events in a remarkable region between Charolais, Bresse and Dombes and where the Burgundy and Beaujolais wine regions meet.
His food is made using fresh seasonal produce, sourced locally where possible.
Your guests will therefore receive food that has been made on-site with simplicity to bring out the flavours of the ingredients.
Let our chef choose the menu for your event; he’ll be able to find the best seasonal produce to suit the type of meal at your event (sit-down meal, buffet, BBQ with plancha grill, garden party, etc.), while meeting your specific needs. You can see example menus here.

The food served is varied, traditional and gastronomic, and changes with the seasons.
Included in our packages are three-course sit-down meals for lunch and dinner.
Our chef can also provide types of meals other than the standard three-course sit-down meals to suit your needs: garden parties, cocktail parties, buffets, gourmet meals, etc. You can see example menus here.

An extensive breakfast is served at the Château, made up of: hot drinks & fruit juice, brioche, cereals, yoghurts, different types of bread, jams and compotes (often homemade), cheese, ham and eggs.
In 1599, long before the château was built, vines occupied the majority of the estate.
The Château has had a wine growing and selling company on-site since 1823, now called ‘Vins des Broyers’. It makes wines with the Gamay and Chardonnay grape varieties, using the Beaujolais method, with maturation in casks, and using the traditional method for sparkling wines.
Take advantage of your visit to the Château to arrange a pre-booked wine tasting session in one of our tasting areas.
You can check out our range on the Vins des Broyers website.
You can also speak to our project managers for help thinking up the perfect workshops and/or activities on the themes of vines and wine.
